A drink driver recorded a staggering blood alcohol reading, more than seven times the legal limit, on the Southern Expressway yesterday morning.
A traffic patrol was conducing speed detection duties on the Southern Expressway at O’Halloran Hill just after 10.30am on Sunday 28 June when they were flagged down by a concerned motorist reporting an erratic driver.
Police stopped the vehicle and breath tested the driver, who recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.379.
The 36-year-old Semaphore Park man was reported for drink driving, issued with an instant 12 month loss of licence and had his car impounded for 28 days. He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
He was taken to the Flinders Medical Centre for a medical assessment due to the extreme level of intoxication.
