Police have laid charges after a man allegedly sped away from police as officers were attempting to arrest him in a stolen car at Spring Gully.
Bendigo police responded to reports a man slumped over in a blue Toyota Camry on Walker Drive about 1.45am on Sunday, 12 November.
On arrival the man refused to cooperate with police and started the vehicle.
Officers smashed the window and attempted to immobilise the car but the driver sped off and crashed into a parked utility.
Despite causing extensive damage, the vehicle continued on and was located a short time later by an unmarked police car on Spring Gully Road.
The Toyota was followed by the unmarked police car throughout the Bendigo area before it was boxed-in at a fast-food restaurant drive-through on High Street about 2.05am.
The driver again allegedly resisted arrest and police deployed OC spray before he was finally subdued.
A 32-year-old Eaglehawk man has since been charged with 29 offences including theft of motor vehicle, unlicenced driving, dangerous driving whilst pursued by police, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, resist police and possess methamphetamine.
He has been remanded to face Bendigo Magistrates’ Court today.
