A driver has been fined after he allegedly discarded a lit cigarette out of a car at Salisbury yesterday.
Just after 8.30am on Thursday 24 January, police from the Heavy Vehicle Enforcement Section spotted the man throw a lit cigarette out of the window as he was driving along the Salisbury Highway.
Patrols stopped the man and issued the 41-year-old from Salisbury Downs with a $560 on the spot fine for throwing burning material from a car.
Police remind drivers that discarding lit cigarettes has the potential to spark a fire and put lives at risk.
A police spokesperson said, “we find the behaviour of this driver particularly irresponsible given the extreme heat in South Australia yesterday”.
