Police from the Frontline Tactical Unit picked up a drink driver more than six times over the legal limit in Dandenong early this morning.
Officers noticed the car on the Princes Highway swerving within its lane about 12.15am.
The driver was also seen to sit at a green set of traffic lights for a period of time before slowly driving off.
The Dandenong North man was pulled over and returned a positive preliminary breath test before a subsequent evidentiary breath test, at a nearby station, furnished a reading of .313.
The 38-year-old man’s licence was immediately suspended and his vehicle, a red Hyundai, impounded for a period of 30 days.
It is expected the man will be charged on summons for drink driving and other traffic related matters.
Whilst committing the offences, the man was also found to be in breach of the directions issued by the Chief Health Officer and was issued a $1652 penalty notice.
The directions by the Chief Health Officer, under the State of Emergency declared in Victoria, have been enacted to help stop the spread of Coronavirus.
