The Cowarra Water Supply Scheme is one of largest projects which Port Macquarie Hastings Council (PMHC) will deliver over the next decade, as the region’s reliance on water and sewer capacity grows in line with its rising population.
Through the Cowarra Water Supply Scheme, we are proactively planning for an increased demand on our communities’ drinking water, to ensure that we have the capacity to continue providing safe and secure water.
The NSW Government is now exhibiting the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for this project, with feedback open until 30 July. We are supporting the engagement of this project, by hosting two drop-in community information sessions where you can find out more about this project, ask questions and share your feedback.
The two sessions will be held at Port Macquarie Hastings Council on Tuesday 16 July at 3:30pm – 4pm and 6pm to 7:30pm. No registrations are required.
Submissions are encouraged by visiting the NSW Planning Portal website at, here.
PMHC Group Manager Utilities Planning and Design, Cameron Hawkins, said the Cowarra Water Supply Scheme drop-in sessions will provide key details to community about these projects moving forward.
“Next week’s sessions will allow interested members of our community the opportunity to hear from, and meet with, Council staff to learn more about these two important projects and the roles which they will play in servicing our region’s future water and wastewater needs,” Mr Hawkins said.
“We encourage residents to familiarise themselves with the project by heading to the NSW Government Planning Portal or Council’s website ahead of the next Tuesday’s sessions.”
