Police have charged 26 people on more than 50 charges following the closure of an operation targeting drug distribution in Kingaroy, Nanango, Yarraman and Blackbutt as part of ongoing drug enforcement operation Romeo Monument.
In a combined operation officers from Murgon and Kingaroy Criminal Investigation Branch, State Flying Squad and uniformed officers from Yarraman, Blackbutt and Nanango executed 25 search warrants between October 21 and October 23 across the Burnett.
It will be alleged that during searches officers located illegal firearms, methylamphetamine, small quantities of cannabis, drug implements, cash, stolen vehicles and motorbikes.
A total 26 people have been charged with 54 drug, property and weapon related offences, including drug production, drug possession, possession of drug implements, burglary, enter premises and commit, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, property suspected stolen, unlawful possession of Category A firearm and unlawful possession of explosives (fireworks).
Detective Inspector Mat Kelly said these operations were aimed at reducing the harm posed by dangerous drugs and illegal in rural areas.
“These operations are a great win for police and the entire community. With valuable information from across the community, we will continue investigations across the South West District and throughout the Southern Policing Region,” Detective Inspector Kelly said.
“By disrupting criminal behaviour in this way, we aim to deter future offending.”
