Investigators from the Fawkner Divisional Response Unit have concluded a six-month long investigation into drug trafficking, with three people charged and an estimated $450,000 worth of methylamphetamine taken off the streets.
The first arrest occurred on Thursday 31 March, after detectives intercepted a vehicle on Cumberland Road in Pascoe Vale at about 11am.
A search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered approximately 2kgs of methylamphetamine, 450 grams of amphetamine, a small quantity of cocaine and $161,000 in cash.
The driver – a 38-year-old male from Cannons Creek – was charged with trafficking a large commercial quantity of methylamphetamine and trafficking a commercial quantity of amphetamine.
He was remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 23 June.
On Wednesday this week, detectives executed several search warrants at residential properties in Ascot Vale, Keilor Downs, Gisborne and Taylors Lakes.
During the warrants, police seized approximately 2.35 kilograms of methylamphetamine, a small quantity of cocaine and nearly $80,000 in cash.
A 34-year-old Keilor Downs man has been charged with trafficking large commercial quantity of methylamphetamine and dealing with the proceeds of crime. He was remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 10 August.
A 34-year-old Ascot Vale woman has been charged with possession of a traffickable quantity of methylamphetamine. She was bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 17 November.
A fourth person, a 23-year-old male from Taylors Lakes, was issued with a drug diversion for allegedly possessing a small quantity of cocaine.
