Drugs and cash seized from car in Moorabbin

Kingston Frontline Tactical Unit police have arrested and charged two men after an alleged traffickable quantity of drugs was located in a car in Moorabbin last night.

Officers were patrolling a hotel carpark on South Road when they noticed a VW Golf bearing what appeared to be cloned registration plates about 7pm.

As two men approached and tried to get into the vehicle police moved in and detained the pair.

A search of the vehicle uncovered a quantity of cash and alleged cocaine, cannabis, methylamphetamine and suspected heroin and ecstasy. A number of other allegedly cloned registration plates were also seized.

The men, aged 32 and 35 from Oakleigh East and Elwood respectively, were interviewed by police and have each been charged with numerous offences including:

• traffick cocaine

• traffick cannabis

• traffick methylamphetamine

• possess cocaine

• possess cannabis

• possess methylamphetamine

• possess heroin

• possess ecstasy

• possess prescription drugs

• possess property suspected proceeds of crime

• handle stolen goods

• commit indictable offence whilst on bail, and

• fraudulently use vehicle registration plates.

The pair have been remanded in custody to appear before Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court today, Thursday 27 October.
