Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch detectives have charged a 29-year-old man after a large quantity of drugs and a handgun were allegedly discovered after a car was intercepted by officers on the Gold Coast yesterday.
Around 11am yesterday police intercepted a Holden Commodore on Smith Street at Southport.
A search warrant was executed on the vehicle where it is alleged a revolver, a large quantity of a crystal substance believed to be Ice, a five-litre plastic bottle of clear liquid believed to be Fantasy and other drugs were located.
As a result around 2.10pm yesterday detectives executed a further search warrant on a Ferny Avenue unit at Surfers Paradise where it is alleged detectives located another handgun, a large quantity of ammunition and further amounts of methylamphetamine.
A 29-year-old Surfers Paradise man has been charged with two counts each of major possess of drugs over schedule 4 (Amphetamines), unlawful possess weapon (Cat H – Handgun) and authority to possess explosives (Ammunition) as well as one count each of major possess dangerous drug over schedule 3 (Cocaine), major possess dangerous drug over schedule 4 (GHB), possess restricted drug (Diazepam), possession of thing (mobile phone) and contravene requirement.
The man faced Southport Magistrates Court today and has been remanded in custody to reappear on April 21, 2020.
