Drugs seized from lock-box in a man’s jocks

Police from Castlemaine have located about $30,000 worth of illicit drugs in a portable lock box stashed in a man’s underwear following a vehicle intercept in Ravenswood yesterday.

Officers were patrolling a service-station truck stop about 2.30am when they noticed a silver Mazda hatchback with Queensland registration plates leaving the car park.

The vehicle was intercepted and investigators spoke to the two male occupants.

During a search of the two men and the vehicle, police allegedly located a small lock-box in the underwear of the passenger.

Inside the lock-box they found methyl-amphetamine, heroin and gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB) which was immediately seized.

A 37-year-old man was arrested at the scene and charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of drugs (methyl-amphetamine) and three counts of possess drug of dependence.

He was remanded in custody and will appear in Bendigo Magistrates’ Court today.

The 50-year-old man in the car was spoken to at the scene and released without charge.
