Officers from Oxley Police District and Strike Force Raptor have searched four properties across the region as part of an ongoing regional Firearms Protection Order (FPO) compliance operation.
About 2pm Friday (5 April 2019), police attended a property at Farrer Road, Gunnedah, the alleged residence of a 32-year-old man with links to an Outlaw Motorcycle Group (OMCG). The man is currently subject to a FPO.
Officers from Strike Force Raptor entered to the premises and a search warrant was executed, with several items – suspected to be prohibited drugs and restricted substances –seized. These items have been taken for further examination.
That same day (Friday 5 April 2019), Oxley Detectives and Strike force Raptor attended and executed two Firearms Prohibition Order searches on properties at Links Road, Gunnedah, and Farrer Road, Gunnedah, where a prohibited weapon was seized.
The 58-year-old man living at the Links Road property is currently subject to an FPO and was at the location at the time of the search warrant. The investigation is continuing pending the outcome of inquiries into the items seized.
About 10am Saturday (6 April 2019), Oxley Detectives and officers attached to Strike Force Raptor seized cannabis when a search warrant was executed at the home of a 23-year-old man at Park Crescent, Narrabri. Those items are now subject to further examination and inquiries are continuing.
The man is also currently subject to a Firearms Protection Order, which was served in March last year.
An hour later that same day (Saturday 6 April 2019), officers attached to Oxley Police District and Strike Force Raptor executed a search warrant at a home on Mitchell Street, Wee Waa, the current home of a 31-year-old man who is also the subject of an FPO.
Officers found $2450 cash during the search, and this has been seized pending further inquiries.
Oxley PD’s acting Crime Manager, Detective Acting Inspector Jason Darcy, says the two-day operation is part of an ongoing proactive strategy within the region.
“We will continue to work closely with Strike Force Raptor to maintain a highly-visible and highly-mobile profile, targeting illegal activity and aimed at preventing and disrupting crime and anti-social behaviour within the region,” Det A/Insp Darcy said.
Strike Force Raptor was established in 2009 and conducts proactive investigations and intelligence-based, high-impact policing operations to prevent and disrupt conflicts, and dismantle any network engaged in serious organised criminal activity.
