Dumbalk Fire Brigade marked its 75th anniversary and hosted an open day for the community over the weekend.
The brigade opened the station doors for community members to mosey on down to learn more about the brigade and its local members on Saturday afternoon.
There were vintage Austin tankers, virtual reality firefighting gear and other interesting firefighting items on display for the community to enjoy.
Later than evening, brigade members were joined by their families and local residents to celebrate the brigade’s milestone at Dumbalk Hall.
Captain Dallas Campbell said combining the two events made for a fantastic day out.
“The Dumbalk Fire Brigade is a really strong brigade, and it was great to invite so many people who’ve supported it throughout the decades, to reflect on how far we’ve come,” he said.
Dumbalk has transformed through the years, previously being part of Meeniyan and Stony Creek brigades, before it amalgamated with Mardan brigade.
An honour board was also unveiled on Saturday as part of the formalities, which details all Captains, 1st and 2nd Lieutenants, Secretaries and Treasurers throughout the brigade’s history.
“Our brigade has cultivated a great culture, it’s very diverse and is a fantastic place to volunteer.”
“I’m proud to celebrate 75 years of the brigade and hope there are many more to come.
“This brigade has been such a valuable group and asset to the community over many decades and we hope to continue building it into the future.
“We always have our doors open for anyone who’s interested in helping out.”
