Dynamic duo, Emma Milner and Taylor Morgan, raised more than $116,000 in four hours for Cancer Council WA at a recent fundraising event at The Waiting Room, Crown Towers Perth.
Ms Milner said they were delighted to be able to exceed their fundraising goal and could not believe the generosity of their guests, sponsors and donors.
“We were hoping our fundraising event would raise $100,000 through auction sales and through the raffle, so we were blown away when the event raised more than 116,000”, Ms Milner said.
“This includes an incredible amount of $63,000 which was raised for Cancer Council WA’s program as one of our auction items. We are so thrilled these funds will provide accommodation and other vital support services for country patients and their carers at Crawford Lodge in Nedlands and Milroy Lodge in Shenton Park. This brings our grand total for Cancer Council WA to more than $316,000 since we began in 2019 so we are incredibly grateful to our huge team of support that surrounded us that made this event and successful fundraising possible”, she shared.
Ms Milner said more than 150 people came together for the soiree titled, Cherie, at The Waiting Room including Australian singer-songwriter, Samantha Jade, who made a guest appearance.
“Out of my mum Valerie’s devastating cancer diagnosis in 2018, has come something so wonderful. Our annual event sees us all come together to do what we can as a community to give back and raise much needed funds for our beloved Cancer Council WA. This event is so much more than just another charity event. Over the years it has shown incredible acts of kindness, seen many of us in tears, been graced with amazing generosity and it brings us all together in the fight against cancer- a disease that sadly has touched most of us in some way”, says Ms Milner.
Cancer Council WA Marketing and Fundraising Director, Lillian Ryan, praised Emma and Taylor for their ongoing fundraising efforts.
“Earlier this year Emma became an official ambassador for Cancer Council WA, so we are very grateful to everyone who continues to show so much support for us through their love and support for Emma, Taylor, Brett and Valerie. It’s only through the generosity of the community and fundraisers like Emma and Taylor, that we are able to do what we do. The money will go towards continuing to provide people who are affected by cancer with the practical and emotional support that they need during a difficult time”, Ms Ryan said.
