Tweed Shire Council has a range of new paid positions for people of all ages, education levels and abilities. Applications are now open, providing community members with the chance to get paid while they kickstart a new career in 2025.
The new roles demonstrate Council’s commitment to creating meaningful career pathways and addressing local skill needs.
Successful applicants can start or continue working towards a qualification while being paid to learn on the job with experienced professionals.
The following roles are open to people of all ages, abilities and education levels and include qualifications:
- Apprentice Carpenter – this position will start or continue a Certificate III in Carpentry, with associated course costs covered.
- Apprentice Plumber – this position will start or continue a Certificate III in Plumbing, with associated course costs covered.
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catchment and Land Management Trainee – this position will start or continue a Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management, with associated course costs covered. The position is open to applicants who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
- Social Media and Digital Content Creator Trainee x 2 positions – this position will start or continue a Certificate IV in Marketing and Communication or Diploma of Social Media Marketing, with associated course costs covered.
- Geographic Information Systems Analyst Trainee x 2 positions – this position will start or continue a Diploma of Spatial Information Services (Surveying), with associated course costs covered.
The following roles are open to current or future university students:
- Engineer Cadet (Entry Level) – this position will start or continue a Bachelor of Engineering, with associated course costs covered. Applicants must be willing to work and study simultaneously until the degree is completed.
- Engineer Cadet (Graduate) – this position is open to university students who are in their final year of study completing a Bachelor of Engineering. Applicants must be willing to work and study over the 2-year cadetship with associated course costs covered.
- Building Surveyor Cadet (Graduate) – this position is open to university students who are in their final year of study completing a Bachelor of Building Surveying. Applicants must be willing to work and study over the 2-year cadetship with associated course costs covered.
These positions complement the 2025 Apprenticeship Program, which recently closed for applications, and reflect Council’s enthusiasm for welcoming fresh talent into its diverse workforce.
Council’s Manager People and Culture, Aimee Austin, emphasised the importance of nurturing local skills and helping people of all backgrounds to kickstart their careers.
