East Green development breaks new ground with start of site works

  • New masterplan provides housing choices
  • House and land packages and lot sizes will suit a wide range of buyers
  • Landscape design features generous open space and retains existing trees
  • On site works have started at the East Green housing development in Greenwood.

Following the approval of a new masterplan in October 2019, earthworks are now underway on a project that will accommodate between 80 and 100 new homes in a mix of house and land packages, land lots and apartments.

East Green is a joint partnership between the Department of Communities and Frasers Property Australia and aims to generate social and community benefits through the provision of quality homes in safe, inclusive neighbourhoods.

Delivered in four stages, the East Green development will have a green focus, with 50 per cent of its housing overlooking expansive parklands containing new and retained trees for the community to enjoy.

When complete, the development will reflect the McGowan Government’s vision for connected communities with access to jobs, services and amenities.

The public open space and civil works are scheduled for completion in mid-2020 with sales for the first stage to launch in the second half of 2020.

As stated by Housing Minister Peter Tinley:

“The commencement of works at East Green is a major milestone for a project designed to inject new social and economic life into the local community.

“East Green is expected to generate significant interest with individuals and families looking to build their first home, as well as those wanting to downsize in Greenwood.

“As well, it will create employment opportunities – both direct and indirect – and boost the local economy.”

As stated by Kingsley MLA Jessica Stojkovski:

“The new masterplan will feature a range of amenities for residents and the broader community while also paying homage to the former East Greenwood Primary School on which the development is situated.

“The East Green project is also supporting a series of monthly food truck events which have proven very popular with the local community.

“The events will run until April 2020 and I urge locals and any others interested in the development to attend the next event on March 19.”
