Two recovery plans to support our community through the pandemic and beyond were approved at the council meeting last night (Monday 9 November).
The and the were both give the stamp of approval by councillors.
Mayor Gail Giles-Gidney said the plans mapped out the next six months and will deliver focused support within council’s current resources.
“From research and conversations with the community, we learned the community is most concerned about five areas including health and wellbeing; mental health; isolation; the impact on young people and the economic impacts,” Mayor Giles-Gidney said.
“These plans are practical ways that council can support the community through the pandemic and into a phase of recovery and growth,” she said.
The Economic Recovery Plan aims to build confidence in the local economy through a business forum, business toolkit to help businesses access resources, create a ‘buy local’ program and increased activity in the Chatswood CBD.
The Community Recovery Plan aims to engage partner organisations to deliver shared goals and ensure service delivery responds to the emerging needs of community members with mental health support needs, young people and people from diverse backgrounds.
These two new plans complement the Business Support Plan which has delivered $2.3 million in rental and fee relief since March with another $545,000 earmarked.
The plans consider surveys, government data, mobility records, and direct responses from community members and businesses.
