MAJOR HOTEL DEVELOPER LIGHTS UP EDEN TONIGHT WITH CHRISTMAS FESTIVITIES
Leading Eden developer Core Asset Development Pty Ltd (CAD) will light up Eden from Friday night, December 10, to the end of January with festive Christmas lights stretching down Imlay Street.
The 500 metres of lights, strung across five massive Norfolk Pine trees, will be officially lit by Bega Councillors, Russell Fitzpatrick and Joy Robins, on Friday night at 8pm, with Imlay Street to be closed from 6pm and to feature a variety of entertainment, with bands and food.
John Palasty, a director of Core Asset Development, said “We are delighted to be bringing Christmas cheer to the people of the Bega Valley with our lights display, which rivals Sydney’s decorations, and entertainment.
“We intend to make this Christmas display an annual event and have plans to bring Christmas in July to Eden from next year with lights and entertainment”, he added.
Centrepiece of the celebration will be the historic, 117 year old Australasia Hotel, which was acquired by Core Asset Development earlier this year and in the final stages of a major renovations by award-winning builder Mr Neil Rankin, and his assistant Mr Peter Goncharuk.
The property will become an eight room, 5-star boutique heritage hotel with restaurants, outdoor eateries and a heritage bar called” Rankins Bar”. The hotel, which opened in 1905, will also feature two vodka and gin distilleries, outdoor theatre and 2SEA community radio station.
The hotel has just been announced as a State-significant site and heritage listing by the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Trust.
Core Asset Development is now underway with the construction of a $100 million, four-tower complex known as “The Sapphire of Eden”, featuring an 82 room 5-star Radisson operated hotel.
The Sapphire of Eden project is expected to generate more than 1,000 local jobs during the construction stage and 80 full time and part time casual ongoing jobs during operations.
Mr Palasty said “We are excited by this project will give the South Coast a much needed, private sector shot in the arm, generating jobs and tourism growth, along with Christmas celebrations”.
