Eight arrested as part of FPO operation across Sydney, NSW

Eight people have been arrested and weapons, prohibited drugs, cash and OMCG paraphernalia are among the items seized as Strike Force Raptor continue the execution of Firearm Prohibition Orders across Sydney.

About 3.10pm yesterday (Wednesday 28 October 2020), Criminal Groups Squad detectives attended a hotel on Burwood Road, Burwood, and arrested a 40-year-old man for an alleged breach of bail conditions.

The man was taken to Auburn Police Station, where he was bail refused to appear at Downing Centre Local Court today (Thursday 29 October 2020).

Later that evening, Strike Force Raptor executed a Firearm Prohibition Order (FPO) at the man’s registered address in ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾bush where cash, prohibited drugs and items of clothing with Comancheros Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) insignia displayed on them, were seized for forensic examination.

Meanwhile, Strike Force Raptor, assisted by the Tactical Operations Unit (TOU), attended a home in South Wentworthville about 4.25pm, which is currently the residence of individuals currently subject to FPOs.

During a previous FPO search at the premises, police seized a .38 calibre revolver.

As part of ongoing investigations, two occupants – a man and woman, both aged 45 – were arrested before further people were located inside the home.

Five men – aged 42, 29, 28, 27 and 23 – were subsequently arrested.

During a search of the premises, officers seized an electronic storage device, mobile phones, prohibited knives, various prohibited drugs believed to be methylamphetamine, heroin, MDMA, and steroids, as well as prescription drugs.

A subsequent search of a Hyundai i30 hatchback, which parked in the driveway of the property, resulted in the seizure of a baton, slingshot, mask and assorted documentation.

During the operation, a 37-year-old man arrived at the scene in a vehicle and was identified as a disqualified driver. He was charged by way of a Court Attendance Notice to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Monday 14 December 2020.

The 45-year-old man and woman were taken to Parramatta Police Station, where the man was charged with three counts of possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, not keep firearm safely-prohibited firearm, acquire etc prohibited firearm-subject prohibition order, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, acquire etc ammunition subject to prohibition order, and owner/occupier knowingly allow use as drug premises.

The woman was charged with firearm etc found at premises-subject to prohibition order and owner/occupier knowingly allow use as drug premises.

Both were bail refused to appear at Parramatta Local Court today.

The five other men were taken to Granville Police Station.

The 42-year-old was charged with possess a prohibited weapon and was bail refused to appear at Fairfield Local Court today.

The 27-year-old and 23-year-old were charged with custody of a knife in a public place and were granted conditional bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Monday 23 November 2020.

The two other men were released pending further inquiries.
