Cessnock City Council is welcoming all elected councillors following the declaration of the results of the 2024 local government elections for the Cessnock LGA.
Daniel Watton has been elected Cessnock City Mayor and will lead a fresh team of councillors comprising many new faces through the next term.
This election, 62% of those elected are first time councillors set to be officially sworn in coming weeks.
The successful candidates from Ward A are re-elected councillors Jessica Jurd and Jay Suvaal, and first-time councillor Tracey Harrington.
There will be three first-time councillors in both Ward B and Ward C, with Chris Madden, Sarah Pascoe and Quintin King elected in Ward B alongside Sophie Palmowski, Mitchell Lea and Mark Mason in Ward C.
Mitchell Hill and Rosa Grine have been re-elected to council in Ward D, alongside newcomer Susanne Dixon.
Cessnock City Council General Manager Ken Liddell congratulated all elected councillors.
“Congratulations to all the elected councillors and new Mayor Daniel Watton. I look forward to the positive community outcomes we can achieve together,” said Mr Liddell.
The new Mayor and councillors will officially be sworn in on the 16 October.
