“Ai Group welcomes the additional $60 million that was announced by the Federal Government today to be committed in next week’s Budget to the Export Market Development Grants scheme (EMDG),” Ai Group Chief Executive, Innes Willox, said today.
“The EMDG scheme plays an important role in encouraging small and medium-sized businesses to export new products and services, and to access new markets.
“Research has shown that every EMDG dollar spent generates seven dollars in economic benefit to Australia and the success of the program ultimately depends on the funding committed in the Budget.
“In the current environment of uncertainty in international markets, exporters should be able to count on the EMDG scheme to support their efforts to promote Australian products around the world.
“This new funding will reduce the risk of exporters not receiving their full entitlement and we urge all sides of politics to commit to the scheme and to at least match this new investment,” Mr Willox said.
