Police are investigating a house fire that claimed the life of a child at Clayfield this morning.

Emergency services were called to an address on Barlow Street around 3.55am after a fire was observed in the rear of the house by neighbours.

A deceased child was located inside and it is believed to be a 6-year-old boy who resides at the address.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Investigations are continuing.
