The Victorian Government will invest $1.7 million to improve the recovery and collection of e-waste across the state.
E-waste is the fastest-growing type of waste worldwide. Phones, computers, TVs, whitegoods and other electronic goods often end up in landfill. Round two of our e-waste infrastructure grants is ensuring valuable resources from these discarded electronic goods don’t go to waste.
This investment will support improvements to the sector, creating 37 new jobs, diverting 6,600 tonnes of e-plastics from landfill and increasing e-waste reprocessing capacity by an additional 13,250 tonnes annually – the equivalent to over 900,000 LCD TVs.
Round two continues to expand the Victorian E-waste Collection Network (VECN), increasing the number of safe e-waste disposal points for Victorians with an additional 12 sites in regional areas, and 3 sites in metro areas.
