Broken Hill City Art Gallery is delighted to announce the return of the prestigious Pro Hart Outback Art Prize for 2024.
Entries are now open for the Art Prize, which serves as a tribute to the legacy of iconic local artist Pro Hart and recognises the Hart family’s ongoing contributions to art in Broken Hill.
The competition is open to work in any media, and the winning work is added to the nationally recognised collection of the Broken Hill City Art Gallery.
This year’s prize pool includes an acquisitive first prize ($20,000), a non-acquisitive second prize ($2000), and the ever-popular People’s Choice Award ($1000).
Gallery and Museum Manager Kathy Graham said she hoped to again see numerous entries across many mediums in this year’s event.
“We’re eagerly anticipating a really diverse array of entries, and we’re hoping for 400 to 500 submissions to mirror the competition’s growth and impact over the last few years,” said Ms Graham.
“I encourage all artists to seize the opportunity to contribute to and celebrate the rich artistic tradition embodied by the prestigious Pro Hart Outback Art Prize.”
Entries for the event must be lodged by June 14, and selected finalists will be notified on June 28.
The Pro Hart Outback Art Prize will be launched and judged at a gala event on August 9, with works to remain on display until October 27.
