Equipping Tasmanian grassroots sporting clubs for future

Nic Street, Minister for Sport and Recreation

Almost every form of sport – including the less traditional eightball, croquet, dragon boating and more – will receive a funding boost from the latest round of Government grants.

There will be 145 sport and active recreation projects sharing in more than $1 million through the 2022-23 Sport and Active Recreation Equipment Grants Program.

Minister for Sport and Recreation, Nic Street, said the program provides local organisations with funds of up to $25,000 to buy new or replacement equipment.

“From the Nippers Program at Raspins Beach Surf Life Saving Club, junior development at Circular Head Saints Football Club and barefoot bowls at Trevallyn Bowls and Community Club, this funding is getting more Tasmanians active,” he said.

“New umpire chairs for St Marys Tennis Club, a tractor for the Penguin Golf Club and a coastal rowing boat for Glenorchy Rowing Club are great examples of how we’re helping grassroots sport right around the State.

“Programs like this from the Rockliff Government are helping more Tasmanians of all ages and abilities to get active, social and healthy.”
