Regional Investigations Unit detectives have charged a man in relation to an incident on Friday 14 August 2020, in which it is alleged he escaped from lawful custody in the Perth CBD.
It will be alleged about 5:00pm the man escaped from lawful custody after appearing in the Perth Magistrates Court, where he had been refused bail and was waiting to be transported to a prison facility.
WA Police Force was notified of the incident and a police operation commenced. Patrols were conducted of the Perth CBD and other areas of interest, and officers attended several residences across the metropolitan area linked to the escapee’s family and associates.
The man attended the Armadale Police Station yesterday morning, Saturday 15 August 2020, at which time he was taken into custody.
A 36-year-old man has been charged with Escape Lawful Custody. He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court tomorrow, Monday 17 August 2020.
After being charged the man was taken to a prison facility where he was due to be held on remand in relation to the matter heard in court on Friday.
