Police have located a prisoner who escaped from a minimum security correctional facility in the state’s Northern Tablelands yesterday.
The 39-year-old man, was reported missing from the facility on the Gwydir Highway, near Glen Innes, about 3.30pm on Friday 4 January 2019.
About 6.15am today (Saturday 5 January 2019) officers from Grafton were patrolling the Pacific Highway about five kilometres south of the city.
The officers observed a pedestrian and stopped to speak with the man.
After establishing the man’s identity, he was arrested and conveyed to Grafton Police Station.
He was later charged with inmate escape from lawful custody and refused bail to appear at Grafton Local Court on Wednesday 13 February 2019.
