ETU welcomes overdue investment in NSW trades

The Electrical Trades Union welcomes the NSW government’s commitment to hire 1000 new apprentices and trainees across departments and publicly owned enterprises over the next two years.

ETU NSW/ACT Secretary, Allen Hicks, said: “The union welcomes this long overdue shot in the arm for the state’s trades workforce.

“NSW desperately needs many more apprentices to ensure it has the right skills mix needed to meet future workforce demands.

“Having 1000 extra tradespeople across state-owned enterprises and departments will be good for jobs, families, productivity and the maintenance of essential services such as electricity and water.
