Euston weir and lock 15 to be reinstated next week

MDBA

The following can be attributed to Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) Executive Director of River Management Andrew Reynolds:

The Euston weir and lock 15 will be reinstated next week as high flows in the River Murray continue to recede.

The weir was removed in mid-September 2022 to allow floodwaters in the River Murray to pass unobstructed.

In preparation for the weir to be reinstated as river levels return to their usual height, a routine inspection by WaterNSW has identified minor damage to the weir structure, which was likely to have been caused by flood debris.

While repairs are underway, pumpers and river users may notice the river level drop below the usual level upstream of the weir into early next week.

River users intending to pass through lock 15 may experience limited access over the next couple of days while structural maintenance of the weir is undertaken.

Works are expected to be completed next week, along with reinstatement of the weir.
