Officers from the Rapid Apprehension Squad have charged two males with multiple offences following an evade police incident which occurred today, Friday 5 January 2024.
Just before 7am, officers observed a grey Toyota Prado Station Sedan driving northbound on Albany Highway in Cannington.
The Toyota was identified as being allegedly stolen from an address in East Perth on Wednesday 3 January 2024.
It will be alleged the Toyota was also involved in an evade police incident on Thursday 4 January 2024.
Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the vehicle; however, it will be alleged the driver failed to stop and continued driving.
Following communications with officers on the ground, Police Air Wing tracked the Toyota as it travelled through Cannington, Beckenham, Maddington and Orange Grove.
The Toyota travelled down a bush track off Gilchrist Road in Lesmurdie, before it travelled back to Maddington and crashed in an industrial area near Valencia Way.
Two unknown males fled the scene; however, both were arrested a short time later.
Following inquiries, a 29-year-old Newman man and a 41-year-old Kelmscott man were charged with several offences, including;
• No authority to drive – suspended (other than fines suspension)
• Reckless driving to escape pursuit by police
• Driver fail to stop – property damage
• Driver of a vehicle failed to comply with a direction to stop (circumstance of aggravation)
Both are due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today, Friday 5 January 2024.
