Today in Molong, Cabonne Mayor Kevin Beatty was joined by the NSW Minister for Regional Transport and Roads, the Hon. Sam Farraway, MLC to announce that Cabonne Council has received $239,651 from the NSW Government’s $25 million Reconnecting Regional NSW – Community Events Program.

The Community Events Program will support regional communities to reconnect by enabling Council to work with community groups to deliver exciting community events.

An important stipulation of the funding is that the events are free to attend and be open to all members of the public.

Cabonne Mayor Kevin Beatty said the program will promote the social and economic recovery of regional communities, by renewing social connections and providing a revenue-boost to local businesses, following the extended COVID-19 restrictions across regional NSW.

“We recognise that businesses and communities right across Cabonne have been impacted by drought, mouse-plagues, and COVID-19. This funding is a great opportunity to provide our community with the support that they need to run events, to bring our towns and villages together again, and to celebrate all that makes Cabonne great!” Clr Beatty said.

The Community Events Program will see Council work with Cabonne community groups to deliver and support 22 new and existing events up until March 2023, including:
