Highlights include the 2023 instalment of our annual Kenneth Myer Lecture, to be delivered by Professor Glyn Davis AC, secretary of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, and talks from 4 of our Fellowship recipients about their Library research.

    Join Associate Professor Deane Williams as he presents a lecture on his 2023 ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Library Fellowship research about how Ron Maslyn Williams – filmmaker, photographer, writer, musician and radio playwright – became one of Australia’s post-Second World War cultural innovators.

  • Tuesday 21 November | 12.30pm to 1.30pm | Free

    Join Dr Gwyn McClelland as he presents a lecture on his 2022 ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Library Fellowship research that considers one of the 4 cultural World Heritage sites of ‘Hidden Christianity’ of the Gotō Archipelago region, drawing on an oral history, and the Library’s Japanese historical records.

    The annual Kenneth Myer Lecture invites an eminent Australian to make a significant statement on a broad subject of interest to them. In 2023, the lecture will be delivered by Professor Glyn Davis AC, secretary of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet. A reception with complimentary drinks and canapes will take place in the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Library Foyer following the event.

    Come and hear Dr Alice Garner present a lecture on her 2023 ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Library Fellowship research on the life of Mavis Robertson. While Mavis Robertson is celebrated as a pioneer in the development of compulsory superannuation, this talk will look at her larger, even more fascinating life.

    Cartoonist Sam Wallman reveals how his research into Pink and Green Bans will contribute to a new artwork celebrating the 1970s coalition of blue-collar union workers and LGBTIQA+ people.
