Exciting Year Ahead 28 February

Mayor Frank Carbone fairfield city council

Council is currently preparing our draft 2024-2025 Operational Plan, which outlines all the work and projects we will undertake for the upcoming financial year.

Comments are open from 2 April and I encourage you to look at the plans and provide your thoughts. Your comments and thoughts will be vital for us to be able to fine tune our plans to ensure they meet your needs and aspirations.

I’m proud of our work over the past few years and Council would like to carry that on to continue to strengthen our City as a great place to live, work and raise a family.

Council will invest $72.9 million in capital works in the next financial year including the start of work on an indoor Multicultural and Sporting Centre at Fairfield Showground and significant upgrades to Endeavour Sports Park, Fairfield West; Avenel Park, Canley Vale and Brenan Park, Smithfield. These are significant works that will be here for residents and families to use for decades to come.

Our ‘every day’ projects and services are really important to support the health and wellbeing of all our residents and the liveability of our City too. That’s why we are committing millions of dollars over the next year on upgrades to 21 kilometres of local roads and transport ($12 million), 11.5 kilometres of new and upgraded footpaths ($3.2 million), renewal to public buildings ($5.5 million) and upgrades to playgrounds and sportsfields ($2.1 million).

This Council has a track record of delivery and I’m committed to getting on with the job of providing the best services and facilities for the families and businesses of our thriving City.
