The $11 million redevelopment of Exeter High School is gathering pace, with construction underway.
Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said the Tasmanian Liberal Government is investing in new and upgraded education infrastructure for our learners as part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future.
“It’s really exciting to tour the school and see the new facilities starting to take shape today,” Minister Palmer said.
“Once completed, the upgraded facilities will include redevelopment of the Years 7-8 and 9-10 learning hubs, new outdoor breakout areas, refurbished student bathrooms, new outdoor courtyard beside the library, kitchen upgrade, new bus shelter, and replacement of paved areas.
“These new facilities will enhance teaching and learning and keep our young people safe.
“The redevelopment has been shaped through extensive consultation with students, staff, and the broader community.”
Works are expected to be completed in late 2025.
The redevelopment of Exeter High School is part of the Tasmanian Government’s record investment in new education infrastructure across the State.
“Our recent election commitment brings our investment in to schools upgrades to well over $442 million. This means our students can learn in state of the art, contemporary facilities,” Minister Palmer said.
“This includes exciting new builds in Legana and Brighton – which are both now well under construction and on track.
“We know there are existing schools that need major upgrades which is why we are working hard to deliver new and improved school facilities.”
“Major redevelopments are underway at the North West Support School, Sorell School, Hobart City High School, Cambridge Primary School, Lauderdale Primary School, Montello Primary School and Cosgrove High School.”
Since 2014, the Tasmanian Government has provided record infrastructure funding to deliver 73 school upgrades across the State.
It recently announced sixteen further public schools around Tasmania will receive major upgrades through our new $188 million School Building Blitz as part of the 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future.
