Indulge in a value-packed weekend of delicious fresh produce and one-of-a-kind local experiences and opportunities, every weekend in August!

The Dollar Discovery Weekend campaign is back, featuring $1, $5 and $10 deals from businesses on both sides of the river. With over 40 participating businesses on board in 2024, Dollar Discovery Weekend allows residents and visitors to enjoy local produce, coffee, wine, golf, donuts, and much more – all from just $1.

Moira Shire Council’s Administrator Suzanna Sheed AM commended the local businesses participating in Dollar Discovery Weekend.

“Local businesses are essential to the wellbeing and growth of our communities,” said Administrator Sheed.

“We are committed to helping our communities thrive, both economically and socially, and the Dollar Discovery campaign is a fantastic opportunity to explore our own backyard while supporting local businesses in the off-peak season. Every business participating in the Dollar Discovery Weekend campaign make significant contributions to the local economy, create jobs, and foster a strong sense of community pride.”

Ambience Bakery is taking part in Dollar Discovery Weekend for its second year and are offering $1 cinnamon donuts each weekend in August (until sold out).

“It’s a wonderful event for our community. We have people come in and enjoy a cuppa and a donut while socialising – it’s great to have people supporting local business, particularly through the colder months,” said owner Renee Lincoln.

Cath Noonan, owner of Noonan’s Jewellers, is excited to be participating this year, after attending Dollar Discovery Weekend in previous years.

“It’s been a tremendous initiative since Moira Shire Council has been running it. We’ve come up with a fabulous deal – spend over $100 and you can buy a pair of beautiful sterling silver earrings for $10,” said Ms Noonan.

“Anything that get locals visiting stores and experiencing what we have to offer in our region is a fabulous idea.”

D’Vine Ideas is joining Dollar Discovery Weekend for the first time, and owner Melissa Crisafully is looking forward to the opportunity to get involved.

“It’s so great to see local retailors participating. It’s an opportunity for everyone to get out and about and see what we’ve got locally – our stores, our tourism operators, everyone is getting behind this event and there is a lot of excitement,” said Ms Crisafully.

“We will have a Dollar Discovery deals table in store, brimming with $10 deals – it’s definitely worth popping in and checking it out!”

Wendy Alford, from Tocumwal Chocolate School, will be offering chocolate tempering demos and $10 chocolate fondue with strawberry and banana (on Sundays through the month of August, only).

“Come along to the Tocumwal Chocolate School, get yourself a fondue, kick back, watch a demo, and tour our beautiful grounds – what a beautiful way to spend a Sunday afternoon,” said Ms Alford.
