Extreme speeder caught by PolAir

A speeding disqualified driver was caught by patrols and PolAir in Kurralta Park overnight.

About 10.20pm Saturday 11 November PolAir were patrolling the skies when they spotted a white Volkswagen Golf travelling at speed south along Morphett Road. PolAir was able to clock the Golf as it then travelled through the back streets allegedly getting up to speeds of 130km/h in a 60km/h zone.

PolAir followed the car and was able to direct patrols on the ground to Cross Terrace where it was dumped, the driver running north to Garfield Avenue. Patrols gave chase on foot arresting the man soon after.

The driver, a 45-year-old Blackwood man, has been charged with drive at extreme speed, drive disqualified and possess prohibited weapon after a taser was found in a bag in his possession.

He did not apply for bail and will appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow.
