Playgrounds, skate parks and outdoor gym equipment in the shire will reopen for use this week in line with new government regulations.
Signage at the reopened facilities will urge community members to comply with physical distancing directions and to practise good hand hygiene.
The reopenings follow the Victorian Government’s further relaxation on Sunday of Stage 3 restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.
Sports grounds in the shire have already been reopened under the relaxation of restrictions.
Later this month Council will look to reopen other community facilities in line with government advice and subject to appropriate restrictions to ensure the health and safety of the community.
Specific information regarding reopening dates of community halls, libraries, gyms, Hanging Rock and pools will be provided in coming days.
Indoor pools are likely to reopen next month, subject to restrictions in line with government regulations such as having a maximum of 20 people on site excluding staff and no more than three people per lap lane.
Annual maintenance works which normally occur in July have been brought forward to ensure the indoor pools in Kyneton and Gisborne will up and running in time for the school holiday period.
However there may be a delay in the opening of Kyneton Toyota Sports & Aquatic Centre as tile replacement work currently underway has proven to be more extensive than expected.
Modifications will be in place in all indoor and outdoor fitness, aquatic and leisure facilities to ensure customers’ safety. The community will be informed of these modifications once they are finalised, and details will be displayed at centres and on Council’s website.
