AAP FactCheck has confirmed that under Daniel Andrews, Victoria’s debt is set to exceed that of New South Wales, Queensland and Tasmania combined.
Following eight years of waste and mismanagement, Victoria’s net debt will rise to $167.5 billion in 2025/26, compared to a combined figure of $159.2 billion for Australia’s other three eastern states.
This record debt has consequences. It means higher taxes and less money available to spend on things like fixing the health crisis, and rewarding hard-working families.
Shadow Treasurer, David Davis, said the Liberals and ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s had real solutions to rein in Labor’s record debt and ease hip pocket pressures on Victorians.
“We will put an end to Daniel Andrews’ era of spiralling debt and ever higher taxes.”
“We will cap Mr Andrews’ spiralling debt, cut waste and reprioritise the $35 billion Cheltenham to Box Hill rail line into fixing the health crisis.”
“The only way to end Victoria’s debt crisis is to vote Liberal.”
