A Fairfield Food Hub Partnership initiative that provided more than 150,000 cooked meals and hampers to isolated members of the community during the COVID-19 lockdown has been recognised with an ‘Exceptional Community Partnership’ Zest award.
Council worked in collaboration with Parks Community Network, Community First Step, Core Community Services and Woodville Alliance to coordinate the preparation, packaging and distribution of meals to members of the community facing hardship during the extended COVID-19 lockdown last year.
Council contributed more than 100 redeployed staff from various departments to manage the organisation and distribution of food and donations from a temporary hub set up at Prairiewood Leisure Centre. In total 158,323 meals were delivered to residents in need.
Now in its twelfth year, the Zest Awards showcase and recognise the vital and dedicated work of the community sector and passionate groups and leaders across greater Western Sydney. The Exceptional Community Partnership Award acknowledged stakeholders working in partnership to achieve an extraordinary outcome and positive impact for the community of greater Western Sydney.
