A report will be prepared for the Coroner following a fatal fire in the state’s north-west.
Emergency services were called to Lorne Road at Lightning Ridge just before 10am today (Thursday 17 January 2019), where they found a residence well-alight.
After the blaze was extinguished, police found the body of an 86-year-old man inside.
Officers from Central North Police District established a crime scene which was forensically examined.
An investigation into the fire is underway; however, it’s not believed to be suspicious.
