Festival goers urged to stay safe at Electric Gardens Music Festival this weekend, NSW

NSW Police Force and event organisers are urging festival goers to stay safe and keep an eye on their friends ahead of the Electric Gardens Music Festival at Centennial Park this Saturday (22 February 2020).

A high-visibility police operation will be in place involving officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command, with assistance from specialist units including the Dog Unit and Police Transport Command, and licensing police.

To ensure the safety of all revellers, police will be targeting anti-social behaviour in and around the venue, as well as on the public transport network.

Eastern Beaches Police Area Commander, Superintendent Rohan Cramsie, said the safety of festival goers is the number one priority.

“We are expecting up to 10,000 people through the gates this Saturday and we hope each of those people will be a responsible festival goer – enjoy the atmosphere, enjoy the music and look out for themselves and others,” Superintendent Cramsie said.

“Warm weather is expected for the weekend, and I’d strongly encourage revellers to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, and seek medical attention if you feel unwell.”

Superintendent Cramsie also said police will be actively targeting drug supply using a range of strategies – including covert operations.

“We want to remind people that there is no safe way to take illegal drugs – they are potentially life threatening and it’s not worth the risk.

“The possession or supply of illicit substances will not be tolerated, and anyone bringing them to the festival should expect to be caught.”
