Festival goers urged to stay safe at Knotfest musical festival this weekend

NSW Police Force and event organisers are urging festival goers to stay safe and look after their friends at the Knotfest Sydney 2024 Music Festival at Centennial Park today (Saturday 23 March 2024).

A high-visibility police operation will be in place involving officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command, with assistance from specialist units including the Dog Unit and Police Transport Command, and licensing police.

To ensure the safety of all revellers, police will be targeting anti-social behaviour in and around the venue, as well as on the public transport network.

Eastern Beaches Police Area Commander, Acting Superintendent Grant Watson, said the safety of all attendees is absolutely paramount.

“It is anticipated that 13,000 people will be attending the event and we want everyone to enjoy themselves.”

“But most importantly be safe. That means not only looking after yourself but also the welfare of your mates. If they become suddenly ill, then get help for them right away.”

Acting Superintendent Watson also said there will be a zero-tolerance approach to drug use.

“To ensure patrons safety we will be targeting all types of illicit drugs.”

“Drugs by their very nature are inherently dangerous. These substances are renowned for having an array of chemicals that are far from fit for human consumption.”

“Anyone found in possession of illegal drugs and especially supplying drugs will face the full force of the law – it’s just not worth it.” said Acting Superintendent Watson.
