Australia’s creative sector is known for its diversity and innovation and this year’s Denmark Festival of Voice is a shining example.
‘That diversity comes just naturally by the people in this community who are doing different things,’ explains Vivienne Robertson, the Artistic Director of the Denmark Festival of Voice.
‘We have storytellers and we have people who are performers, who are singer-songwriters, and we also have choirs.’
‘I think one of the things about this year’s festival that I really love, and feel is a great innovation is this ancient meets contemporary and Indigenous voice meets classical.’
One of the highlights of the festival was Koorlangka – which featured well known performer Gina Williams singing an ancient song cycle in Noongar, accompanied by the West Australian Symphony Orchestra String Quartet.
