As we begin to reopen and reconnect with family, friends and the wider community, Council has organised a number of activities and activations to bring people together and celebrate the joy of Christmas.
Hume City will come to life with its biggest Christmas decoration display across the municipality. From a stunning Christmas-themed projection lighting up Town Hall Broadmeadows, to making Sunbury’s iconic fountain sparkle, there will be pockets of colour and festivity throughout Hume.
While there will be no Carols event, there will be plenty of pop-up performers, local events and decorations for residents and businesses to enjoy as part of the Christmas in Hume calendar.
Highlights in this year’s program include a Christmas window display at the Hume Global Learning Centres, a gingerbread making workshop, sustainable decoration making workshops – and of course, it wouldn’t be Christmas without a visit from Santa.
2021 Christmas in Hume program highlights include:
- Immersive projections will light up Town Hall Broadmeadows by night while our biggest display of Christmas decorations transform plazas, buildings and local streets.
- Residents will be able to participate in cooking, decoration making and gingerbread house workshops.
- Children will be able to send their letters to Santa through our North Pole letter boxes and be able to meet the jolly man himself throughout December as he travels across Hume City.
- Pop up performers will bring the festive cheer to main promenades every Saturday in the lead up to Christmas.
- Residents can check out Christmas themed window displays across three locations – discover Santa’s toy workshop, the reindeer forest, journey through the North Pole and many more!
- Over $4,000 in giveaways as part of Hume City’s Christmas Passport Challenge and colouring, crazy jumper, and Christmas lights competitions.
