Final Days Of Geelong Design Week 2024

Hundreds have attended Geelong Design Week 2024 events so far with dozens of exhibitions, workshops, talks, experiences and tours remaining before the festival wraps up this Saturday.

Geelong Design Week is for everyone, whether you’re an architecture aficionado, fashionista, sustainability champion or someone with diverse interests and creative pursuits.

This year’s program uniquely showcases local talent, how design and creativity can have community impact and our notable design heritage as the nation’s first and only UNESCO Creative City of Design, including:

Design Thinking Geelong: Strategic Design for Community Leaders: 9am – 7.30pm Tuesday 26 November

Explore the fundamentals of strategic design, and discuss how capability uplift, courageous and collaborative leadership, and the integration of First Nations knowledge can increase Geelong’s capability as a UNESCO City of Design.

Circularity and the Future of Geelong: 2pm – 3pm Tuesday 26 November

Join the City for an inspiring talk from internationally renowned speaker Ashleigh Morris, who will share her expertise on circularity and its transformative potential, before a dynamic panel discussion with some of Geelong’s brightest minds.

Geelong to Japan: 2pm – 3pm, Friday 29 November

Presented by the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Wool Museum, this panel discussion examines the relationship between Geelong and Japan through the wool trade. Japan has been a prominent buyer of Australian wool since 1890.

Yarra Street Window Gallery Design Showcase: 24 hours a day

Our Yarra Street Window Gallery is transformed into a vibrant display of glasswork, textiles, ceramics, mixed media and more, celebrating the creativity and innovation of Geelong’s artists and designers.

The Gordon Tech School x Kortrijk Wonder Festival Projection: 8pm – 6am daily

Check out this motion capture projection from the Geelong Tech School, created especially for the Wonder Creativity Festival in Kortrijk, Belgium’s UNESCO Creative City of Design.

Tran2located exhibition: 10am – 4pm daily

This exhibition features reflections from 19 Deakin University students who translocated innovations from Geelong to Nagoya, which explore the connection between the two cities’ design, manufacturing, contemporary art and culture.
