Final Plans For Rhyll Boat Ramp Upgrade Released

  • Minister for Fishing and Boating

The Andrews Labor Government has released the final design concept for the Rhyll boat ramp upgrade which will improve access for boaters and encourage more people to get out on the water.

Minister for Fishing and Boating Jaala Pulford today unveiled the design that will include a new three lane, all-tide access boat ramp.

Better Boating Victoria worked closely with Bass Coast Shire Council and members of the boating and fishing community on these designs which will see an upgrade to the existing pontoon, installation of an additional pontoon, separate sailboat access, improved traffic flow and better, safer pedestrian access.

As part of the project, a heritage consultant will conduct a maritime and aboriginal heritage impact statement to ensure local maritime and cultural history is protected at the Rhyll boating facility.

A reference group will also be established to help ensure ongoing community engagement during the upgrade. The structure and the terms of reference for this group will be worked through in the coming weeks.

The upgrade is part of the Labor Government’s massive commitment to improve boating in Victoria, including the scrapping of parking and launching fees at public boat ramps right across the state.
