Find Your Inner-Superhero this December with a Costume-Making Workshop at the Northern Rivers Community Gallery

Unleash your creativity and find your inner superhero! On Sunday 8 December 2024, neurodivergent artist Sarah Lewis (Lewis) will lead a playful exploration of costume design and character development, in a day-long Superhero Costume-Making Workshop at the Northern Rivers Community Gallery’s Ignite Studios.

Participants will create their own superhero persona and design costumes that bring their inner vision to life, crafting signature pieces like a headpiece, belt, or accessory to showcase their unique superpower. All tools and materials will be provided, and special guest Supers from the Suburban Superheroes exhibition may even drop in to lend a hand!

Artist and workshop facilitator Lewis says:

“We will be working with craft foam and base templates to build our own Supers. I want to encourage people to let their weird out – weirdness is power!”

Taking inspiration from Suburban Superheroes, an exhibition by Sprung Dance Theatre and currently on show at NRCG, this workshop will run from 10am to 3pm, at Ignite Studios – the former Ballina Fire Station at 60 Crane Street Ballina.

This inclusive workshop is open to everyone, and tickets are $35. Kids under 16 must be accompanied by a ticketed adult and bookings are required in advance. For bookings or more information, visit nrcgballina.com.au or phone the Gallery on 02 6681 0530.

The exhibition Suburban Superheroes by Sprung Dance Theatre is currently on display at the Northern Rivers Community Gallery from Wednesday 16 October until Sunday 8 December.
