Caulfield Divisional Response Unit (DRU) detectives have arrested one male following an early morning warrant in Melbourne’s southern eastern suburbs today, seizing a traffickable quantity of methylamphetamine, a loaded handgun, and more than $25,000 cash.
A team of detectives executed a dawn raid at a residence in Mordialloc this
morning as part of Operation Miami, a six-month investigation into drug trafficking.
This is the second significant drug bust by the Caulfield DRU in the space of three days, with the same group of detectives arresting two alleged drug traffickers on Wednesday (16 February), with nearly a million dollars and more than $360,000 in methylamphetamine, heroin and cocaine seized.
Today’s warrant was executed with the assistance of the Australian Federal Police, Clan Lab Squad and the Dog Squad, with the following items seized:
• Approximately 30 grams of methylamphetamine estimated to be valued over $25,000
• Approximately 5 grams of ketamine.
• Pre-cursor drug chemicals
• Anabolic steroids
• A loaded handgun
• Firearm parts
• Ammunition
• Prohibited weapons
• $26,000 cash
A 62-year-old Mordialloc male has been charged with various counts of trafficking a drug of dependence, possess handgun, possess ammunition, possess prohibited weapon & possessing property being proceeds of a crime.
He will face the Melbourne Magistrates Court later today.
