About 7.45pm last night, Mandurah Police conducting patrols observed a suspicious blue Ford Falcon at the intersection of Mandurah Road and Singleton Beach Road, Mandurah. Officers lost sight of the Ford as it speed along Mandurah Road.
Approximately 350m from the intersection, the Ford crashed into a wire fence line about 20m from the road. As police arrived they saw the two front doors of the vehicle were open and believed the occupants had fled into bushland. Police took the rear passenger, a man in his 20s into custody.
The area was cordoned off and others officers attended the scene. Police dog Utah was deployed and he searched the area until he located a scent. PD Utah tracked the scent for about 200m towards an area completely dark and of thick vegetation. PD Utah located a man in his 30s hiding in the scrub. It is alleged the man resisted arrest which led to him receiving a dog bite to his leg and he was taken to Peel Health Campus for treatment.
During a search of the vehicle, several items of interest were located including 2 firearms and shotgun cartridges.
The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been laid at this time.
