Firearms seized, two men charged in attempt murder raids, NSW

A number of firearms have been seized and two men have been charged following an investigation into a shooting in the Blue Mountains.

About 11pm on Thursday 5 September 2019, two men, armed with handguns, entered the rear access door of a licensed premises on Great Western Highway, Blackheath, and shot at a man; narrowly missing him.

No injuries were reported to police.

Officers from Blue Mountains Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation under Strike Force Millett.

Following extensive inquiries, strike force investigators arrested two men, aged 26 and 24, at separate workplaces in Wallerwang and Emu Plains just after 10am yesterday (Wednesday 2 October 2019).

Shortly after, detectives executed search warrants at homes in Blackheath, Little Hartley, and Cronulla.

During the search warrant, investigators located several items, including firearms and ammunition. These items were seized to undergo forensic examination.

Following further inquiries, strike force investigators, with officers from Chifley Police District, conducted two Firearms Prohibition Orders (FPO) at homes in Lithgow just before 12pm.

The 26-year-old Cronulla man was taken to Springwood Police Station, where he was charged with shoot with intent to murder, unlawfully sell firearms three times or more within 12 months, three counts of manufacture firearm without licence/permit and three counts of manufacture pistol without licence/permit.

He was refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today (Thursday 3 October 2019).

The 24-year-old Blackheath man was taken to Lithgow Police Station, where he was charged with shoot with intent to murder, unlawfully sell firearms three times or more within 12 months, and six counts of manufacture firearm without licence/permit.

He was refused bail to appear at Lithgow Local Court today.

Investigations are continuing, including possible links to a shooting at a home in Bourke Street at Lithgow about 2.30pm on Sunday (29 September 2019).
