The first aerial mosquito treatment of the wet season was completed today following high tides across the city.
Townsville City Council staff have been completing ground treatments of known breeding sites since the high tides began yesterday.
Aerial treatments targeted large breeding sites to the north and south of the city, and the Town Common area.
Council expects adult mosquito activity to increase mid-next week and residents are encouraged to take precautions to protect against any bites.
This includes wearing loose fitting clothing, using insect repellent, avoiding the peak biting times of dusk and dawn, and emptying and pooled water around the yard.
